School Health Screenings

Your child is screened in grades K, 2, 4, and 6 as part of the Tennessee Department of Education’s Coordinated School Health Program. The screenings consist of height, weight, blood pressure, hearing, and vision. These screenings are done in an effort to make sure that our children are healthy and ready to learn.

School Health screening results are shared with parents via Skyward and paper form. These are only screenings, not a diagnosis, and should be shared with your child’s physician during their yearly check-up.

Parents can opt their child out of the screenings two different ways, in the handbook when registering at the beginning of the year and through an email sent via Skyward. If you do not want your child screened and overlooked the handbook opt-out, please make sure your contact email in Skyward is up to date or email Autumn DePriest at Autumn.DePriest@cityschools.net
