Your child is screened in grades K, 2, 4, and 6 as part of the Tennessee Department of Education’s Coordinated School Health Program. The screenings consist of height, weight, blood pressure, hearing, and vision. PreK and IPK will be screened for vision and hearing. These screenings are done in an effort to make sure that our children are healthy and ready to learn.
School Health screening results are shared with parents via Skyward and paper form. These are only screenings, not a diagnosis, and should be shared with your child’s physician during their yearly check-up.
Parents can opt their child out of the screenings with a declination form sent home prior to the screening date. If you do not want your child screened and overlooked the form, please email Darla Sampson at darlasampson@cityschools.net.
