Don Bartch

Scales Principal Don Bartch has been named Principal at Overall Creek Elementary, scheduled to open in August 2014. Bartch will assume the new role in January and will oversee the opening and hiring for the new school.

“Mr. Bartch’s experience and leadership is ideal for his role as principal of Overall Creek. He has been involved in opening new schools including Scales and knows the excessive details involved in being prepared for opening day of a new school,” says Dr. Linda Gilbert, Director of Murfreesboro City Schools. “He understands the vision of this school district and its focus on children. Additionally, he knows many of the students and parents that Overall Creek will serve.”

Overall Creek Elementary will be located off Mooreland Lane, east of Veterans Parkway and south of Franklin Road near the Blackman community. The two-story school is designed for up to 1,000 students and will feature modern design and creativity.

Bartch has served as an administrator at Scales since the school’s opening in 2005 and has been a vital part of the school’s success serving as Vice Principal and later Principal. Prior to joining Murfreesboro City Schools, Bartch taught at Christiana Middle School in Rutherford County and North Pike High School in Summit, MS.

“This new position is bittersweet. I am looking forward to the opportunity to open Overall Creek and know it will be a fabulous new school. However, the Scales staff, students and parents are like part of my family,” says Bartch. “We have a strong team at Scales and I know they will embrace the next principal and continue to succeed.”

Bartch received his Bachelor and Master of Education degrees from Harding University in Searcy, AR. He received his Administration Certification from Middle Tennessee State University.

Bartch, his wife, Lea and their three children reside in Murfreesboro.

Murfreesboro City Schools is a district of twelve schools, soon to be thirteen, committed to the academic and personal success of each child.
