Xavier Hamler

John Pittard Assistant Principal Xavier Hamler has been named Supervisor of Murfreesboro City Schools’ Extended School Program (ESP).  Dr. Linda Gilbert, Director of Murfreesboro City Schools, announced this week the appointment of Hamler.

Hamler has served as Assistant Principal at John Pittard Elementary since the school’s opening and has over nine years of classroom teaching experience. Hamler also served as a staff person for the ESP program while in college and served as the ESP Site Director for Cason Lane Academy for nearly six years

“Mr. Hamler brings enthusiasm and leadership to the ESP program and has a vision for helping children enjoy both learning and recreation before and after the school day. I anxiously look forward to the activities he will bring to our ESP students,” says Gilbert.

Over 2,100 students are enrolled in the ESP Program located within the Murfreesboro City Schools. The fee-based program operates from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday including Summer, Winter, Fall and Spring breaks and is open to all children in Murfreesboro City Schools.  ESP offers students the opportunity to become involved in enriching activities and gives parents the convenience of safe school-based care for their child.

“I am very excited about this new venture,” says Hamler.  “As a former site director, I understand the numerous learning opportunities that ESP can offer students after school as well as during intersessions.”

Hamler received his Bachelor and Master of Education degrees from Middle Tennessee State University as well as his Education Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction. He is a member of the Murfreesboro Education Association, Tennessee Education Association and the National Education Association.  Additionally, Hamler serves as the Public Relations and Communication Director for his church.
