Murfreesboro City Schools Director Dr. Linda Gilbert and Principal Don Bartch are proud to announce the addition of Maria Johnson as Assistant Principal for Scales Elementary.

Johnson has an extensive background working with children including nine years in juvenile justice, five years in classroom instruction and most recently as Assistant Principal for Simpson Elementary School in Simpson County, Kentucky.

“Maria brings a wealth of knowledge to this position. I look forward to working with Maria and I know our teachers, students and parents will embrace her leadership style and outgoing personality,” says Bartch.

Scales has the largest student population in the Murfreesboro City School district and is projected to enroll over 1,100 students for the 2012-13 school year.

“I am looking forward to becoming a part of the Scales community,” says Johnson.  “Scales enjoys a wonderful reputation for student learning and community involvement.”

Johnson received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Louisville and her Master of Art Degree in Education Administration from Western Kentucky University.
