“The purpose of this leadership development project is to develop a cadre of exceptional instructional leaders across the state of Tennessee,” says Dr. Linda Gilbert, MCS Director of Schools.  “Shanghai, China city school system is one of the highest performing school systems in the world. The invitation for MCS to join this project confirms that the State, SCORE, and major postsecondary institutions are recognizing that MCS principals are doing the right things.”

The Tennessee-Shanghai leadership collaborative will develop greater expertise in teacher leadership and instructional capacity including protocols, tools and resources that will ultimately help improve student performance.

The leadership development project is a collaborative partnership between Vanderbilt University and the districts of Murfreesboro, Memphis, Tipton, Metro Nashville, Loudon, and Knoxville schools, school principals in Shanghai, China and the Institute of Schooling Reform and Development at East China Normal University.
