Schools within the city limits of Murfreesboro are the 23rd best in the country, according to a new ranking published by the research website Niche.com.
The website released its findings in late May. The ranking includes schools governed by both Rutherford County Schools and Murfreesboro City Schools. No other schools in Tennessee, ranked by city, made the top 50 list, according to the website’s national rankings.
“The MCS family is very excited about the national ranking. Our community has a right to be proud of the education its children are receiving in their public schools,” said Dr. Linda Gilbert, Director of Murfreesboro City Schools. “The district has worked hard to focus on the whole child and this ranking is another proof that the focus is paying off.”
The website also recognized local schools in other categories. Schools within greater Rutherford County, which consists of Murfreesboro City Schools and Rutherford County Schools, were ranked as the second best in Tennessee as a whole.
It’s always an honor when our schools are recognized for quality,” Rutherford County Schools Director Don Odom said. “These types of awards should be shared by all stakeholders because quality schools are the result of the support from everyone involved, including dedicated employees, engaged parents, hardworking students, thoughtful government leaders and invested community members who all recognize the importance of public education.”
The website developed its rankings by blending “community reviews with hard data.” The data includes compiled grades from all public schools and then weighting each school’s score by the number of students served, according to the website.
For all schools within the city limits of Murfreesboro, the composite score was 94.40 out 100 points, according to the website. To see the rankings by city, follow this link:
