Three MCS principals have joined 15 additional principals from Tennessee in Shanghai, China this week.  Their trip, funded by the Tennessee Department of Education, is part of the TNLEAD Fellowship Program with Vanderbilt University and East China Normal University.

This project brings together a set of highly effective principals from across six districts in Tennessee to collaborate with a group of leading principals from Shanghai, China, one of the highest performing school systems in the world.

As our principals are in China, they are learning about professional learning communities, best practices for students and teachers, watching evaluations and participating in lesson planning.  They are witnessing Chinese children learning English and dissecting paragraphs so those children have the skills to compete with our students in tomorrow’s world.

The purpose of this trip is to develop a cadre of exceptional instructional leaders across the state of Tennessee and for those leaders to share the knowledge with others to benefit the students of Tennessee.
