TCAP Achievement Level Results for Grades 3-8 show MCS teachers and students alike can celebrate their success.  With growth in all key areas, MCS claims another year of student growth ranking in the top ten school systems for growth in Reading and Language Arts. MCS also ranked in the top 20 school systems for overall scores in Math.

Both Reading and Math scores show a 6.1% increase in growth, well above the state’s objectives. Science saw an amazing 7.5% increase in growth while Social Studies experienced a 1.2% increase.

“I am very proud of the TCAP results of Murfreesboro City School students this year.  I am especially proud of the administrators and teachers who facilitated the success of our children,” says Dr. Linda Gilbert, director of Murfreesboro City Schools.

MCS saw excellent academic growth in the 2010-2011 school year ranking sixth in the state in the overall amount of growth.   In 2011-2012, MCS continued the trend of increasing student academic growth with another overall significant increase.

“The fact that we have experienced two years of increased academic achievement is evidence that we, as a district, are headed in the right direction, our students are achieving at higher levels than ever before and this is a direct result of our excellent teaching staff,” says Gilbert.

In addition to the high levels of grade achievements, MCS has realized great strides in community and business alliances and partnerships.  These partnerships help bring MCS students a well-rounded approach to studies and life lessons.

The new school year begins with high expectations for students, teachers and all MCS personnel as we celebrate our successes and focus on our students.
